How Specim’s Hyperspectral Imaging solutions make tasks simpler for its users

During our visit to VISION 2024 in Messe Stuttgart, we spent time at the Specim booth. There, we were treated to demonstrations of their industry-leading hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology by Minna Törmälä, Global Marketing Manager at Specim.

On show at VISION was Specim’s newest GX17 NIR infrared hyperspectral camera, a solution which identifies objects that are invisible to the human eye at high speed. It is significantly more accurate than standard QVGA (320px) sensor-based hyperspectral imaging cameras, making it beneficial for food, beverage, recycling and waste management.

Hyperspectral Imaging technology is very versatile, offering plenty of opportunities, as it doesn’t just detect materials based on how they look, but based on the material and its chemical composition.

We also saw live demonstrations of PCB layer thickness analysis, which involved PCB plates with different levels of protective coating thickness. Specim’s solution measures the quality and uniformity of the coating on the PCB plates.

Another key feature of Specim’s cameras is compatibility. They offer options for a range of different wavelengths, allowing for more usability as users can select the camera based on the needs of their application.

Specim also focuses on ease of use by offering the Specim One solution. It is an all-in-one platform featuring a camera and software to analyse the data and create models, as well as a real-time processing platform. This makes it significantly easier for users to integrate into their systems.
