January 29, 2026 — LMI Technologies has announced the launch of Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras, extending its Gocator product line with a new range of industrial 2D vision systems designed to operate without external PCs or cloud connectivity.
According to the company, the new cameras integrate imaging, processing and vision software into a single IP67-rated device, targeting factory-floor inspection applications that require deterministic performance and simplified system architecture. The platform is built on LMI’s existing Gocator smart platform and uses the company’s GoPxL® vision inspection software.
Gocator 2D Smart Cameras are available in 5 MP and 12 MP global-shutter models, supporting image capture at up to 84 frames per second with low latency. Image processing and inspection tasks are executed directly on the device, combining traditional rule-based vision tools with AI-based inspection capabilities. Supported applications include defect detection, measurement, OCR, barcode reading, colour inspection and traceability.
The cameras feature native industrial communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus and MQTT, allowing direct integration with PLCs and automation systems. Inspection workflows are configured using a browser-based interface, with drag-and-drop tools for setup, validation and deployment.
LMI positions the Gocator 2D Smart Cameras for single-camera and small multi-station inspection scenarios, where PC-based vision systems can introduce additional cost and maintenance overhead. The company also notes that the 2D cameras are designed to integrate with its existing Gocator 3D Smart Sensors, using a common software environment and data model to support combined 2D and 3D inspection.
Gocator® 2D Smart Cameras are available now, supported by a range of industrial accessories including lenses, lighting and mounting hardware.
