Let’s take another look back at Automate 2024, by bringing you the rundown of our visit to Baumer’s booth. Our CEO Alex Sullivan spoke with Roger Altendorf, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Baumer, to find out more about what they were exhibiting.
The first product we saw was their Smart 2D Profile Sensor, which can provide an X and Z dimension at the same time. It offers several built-in tools which complete advanced inspection technologies.
Although a sensor expert, Baumer also offers a range of vision products, including simple cameras with built-in software that allows users to perform pass/fail inspections. That’s not all Baumer provides in terms of cameras, with an array of high-performance products available for customers.
Roger explained:
“We have complex cameras that go all the way up to 65 megapixels, which are great for inspection. We’re also showing off some of our other technologies, which are designed more for the processing world. Whether you need to keep track of temperature, pressure, flow, or conductivity, we have solutions for all of them.”
Automate allowed Baumer to show off their new AX Camera, which boasts an iP67-grade housing, making it suitable for harsh environments. Roger outlines how this is integrated, “We provide this, and then you have your third-party controller. Clients build their own software, while our camera provides images of up to 65 megapixels. It’s highly accurate and has a great field of view.”
The AX Camera can be utilised for product sorting and inspection, making sure products meet the necessary criteria and helping users sort the good from the bad. It can detect the size, shape and colour of items, boosting efficiency in a range of sectors.
