VISION 2024: Everything we saw at the Basler booth

While at VISION 2024 last month, we made several visits to the Basler booth, where we were fortunate enough to be treated to several product demonstrations with Basler representatives.

Firstly, we spoke to Thomas Karow, Business Development Manager at Basler. Thomas showed us applications for coating and battery cell production, demonstrating that Basler is a solutions provider, offering not just hardware but software as well.

We saw a demonstration of Basler’s new 8K Racer 2 L line scan camera, a two-channel camera with CXP-12 interface which runs at 200KHz. Thomas then showed us their four-channel CXP-12 frame grabber, in conjunction with their pre-processing software VisualApplets and their new Pylon AI software tool. The pre-processing task detected defects using the frame grabber, which were then processed by Pylon AI.

We then headed over to their smart football table, where Pauline Lux, Product Group Architect at Basler, showed us how it works. The Pylon AI platform allows them to optimise models for any target device. The platform detected the speed of the ball, with the visitors’ scores presented on a leaderboard.

After that, Kathrin Martens, Product Manager at Basler, walked us through several demonstrations. Firstly, she showed us a warehouse automation solution to provide an example of how Basler’s portfolio can be used to solve problems in a variety of ways. The solution uses Smart ToF camera for on-board image processing, along with their Ace2 Pro, equipped with onboard camera processing for a range of inspection tasks.

Kathrin then provided us with two stereo vision demonstrations, offering a choice of solutions to customers depending on their needs. The first involved a camera with a stereo vision option which also provides picking solution software. The second was the Stereo Ace, with a 5-megapixel resolution.
