Edinburgh-based Singular Photonics has raised $2.15 million in an oversubscribed funding round to accelerate the development of its next generation of SPAD-based image sensors.
The round was led by ACF Investors, with participation from Wren Capital, Cambridge Angels, Scottish Enterprise, Quantum Exponential and Old College Capital.
Singular Photonics says the investment will allow it to expand its engineering capacity and accelerate the development of new image sensors in response to growing customer demand.
The company has already doubled its full-year 2025 sales during 2026 to date, with customer activity spanning multiple sectors. Target markets for its next generation of sensors include machine vision, industrial automation and physical AI, alongside scientific and medical imaging.
Singular develops image sensors based on single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs), capable of detecting and precisely timing individual photons. The technology opens up applications including 3D vision, low-light imaging, industrial inspection and autonomous systems.

Alongside the funding announcement, Singular Photonics confirmed that Dipesh Patel, former CTO of Arm, has joined its board of directors. Patel spent 25 years at Arm across a range of technical and management roles.
The investment follows growing commercial momentum for Singular as it expands its sensor portfolio and targets new applications across industrial and scientific imaging.
