Nisshinbo: High-Performance 5V Analog Front End with High Gain PGA

Nisshinbo

Nisshinbo Micro Devices announces the release of its latest innovation, the NA2200 Analog Front End (AFE).

Designed to meet the growing demands of high-precision measurement and control applications, it is equipped with cutting-edge features that set a new standard in performance and versatility.

The NA2200 is a 5V CMOS-based AFE that integrates a high-gain Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) and a 16-bit Delta-Sigma (ΔΣ) Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). This combination ensures exceptional signal accuracy and resolution, making it an ideal choice for various industrial and consumer applications, including pressure sensors, flowmeters, current measurement devices, thermostats and more.

The AFE utilizes a Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) to enhance analogue signals from sensors connected to its input terminals, allowing signal amplification up to 512 times through a combination of PGA1 and PGA2.

These amplified signals are then converted to digital data by a 16-bit Delta-Sigma ADC and, after processing for offset and gain calibration, are transmitted to a microcontroller (MCU) via SPI communication. A built-in level shifter ensures the digital signals are compatible with a 5V MCU.

The device supports up to two inputs in differential mode and four inputs in single-ended mode. It includes two excitation current sources, suitable for temperature controllers using resistance temperature detectors.

The ADC reference voltage can be externally set through VREFP/VREFN inputs or internally through the internal regulator. The NA2200 offers multiple operating modes: Normal Mode, Low Power Mode (with conversion speed and current consumption reduced to a quarter of Normal Mode), Sleep

Mode (where all circuits are off except bias and REG circuits), and Standby Mode (with all circuits off and current consumption of 0.1 μA or less).
