JAI announces the release of four new compact Line Scan cameras, including both colour and monochrome models, to the Sweep Series. New 2K compact trilinear and monochrome line scan cameras with features supporting high-speed applications based on versatile and easy-to-connect interfaces– 5 GigE and CoaXPress.

The new 2K resolution cameras offer system integrators the choice between 5GigE and CoaXPress (CXP-6) interfaces, providing flexibility for various industrial setups. The 5GigE models measure 44mm x 44mm x 64mm, while the CXP-6 models are slightly more compact at 44mm x 44mm x 54mm. This compact design allows for more streamlined and less intrusive system configurations, making these cameras an ideal choice for space-constrained environments.

The Sweep 2K cameras with 5GigE interface are versatile solutions, delivering high bandwidth for faster data transfer, essential for high-speed imaging tasks. This increased speed improves processing and throughput without the need for an expensive Machine Vision-specific frame grabber card.

The CXP models, on the other hand, provide high bandwidth and low latency, ensuring rapid, real-time processing. Additionally, CXP offers exceptional signal integrity over long distances, compared to CameraLink making it particularly suitable for large-scale industrial setups where cameras are positioned far from the processing unit.

Both models boast impressive scan rates, with the trilinear models achieving 44kHz and the monochrome models reaching 172kHz. These high scan rates enable precise and efficient imaging, even in the most dynamic production environments.

The new 2K color Sweep Series Line Scan cameras feature a trilinear sensor layout, ensuring accurate color reproduction with meticulous precision. Separate lines for red, green, and blue channels allow for true color imaging, making these cameras ideal for applications where color accuracy is critical.

JAI’s FPGA-based binning can digitally increase signal responsivity by summing or decreasing noise by averaging adjacent pixels.   This makes the cameras highly reliable and cost-effective for a wide range of machine vision applications, including fruit and vegetable sorting, wood inspection, logistics such as postal and barcode scanning, battery inspection, print inspection or mineral sorting.

The new Sweep 2K models will support several advanced functions designed to enhance performance in dynamic production environments. These features include resume scanning, which ensures continuous data acquisition even in the event of interruptions.

The models also offer various options to define trigger delay, which enables delayed output of the grabber lines. Additionally, the ability to control the exposure time by the trigger width simplifies tasks like bright field inspection, creating High Dynamic Range (HDR) images, and synchronizing with RGB LED lights. Further image enhancement features ensure high quality images straight out of the camera.
