Welcome

Hello and welcome to the final issue of MV Pro for 2025!

I can hardly believe it’s already been a year since I stepped into the editor’s chair and what a year it’s been. Ten fantastic issues down, and we’re finishing strong.

We kick things off by looking ahead to 2026, with Mark and Rachel sharing their predictions for what’s next in machine vision. You’ll have to stay with us over the coming year to see just how accurate they turn out to be. In return, I take a moment to look back at 2025 and reflect on some of the standout developments that shaped our industry. I wonder—which moments stood out for you?

This issue also features a superb article from Ivar Keulers at Zebra Technologies, exploring the virtuous loop of data in machine vision, alongside all the latest industry news and a great selection of articles from across the community.

This one is well worth your time, whether you’re reading it cover to cover or picking up a hard copy from me at Photonics West in January.

Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the brilliant MV Pro team, from the podcast to the magazine, and across all our channels and partnerships. Your hard work makes this all possible. And most importantly, thank you to you, our readers and contributors. MV Pro would be nothing without your insight, engagement, and support.

We can’t wait to continue exploring the world of machine vision with you in 2026 and beyond.

Have a fantastic holiday break, and I’ll see you in the new year.

Best wishes
Tom
