FRAMOS has expanded its North American operations through the acquisition of EMAC Inc., a US-based provider of embedded computing solutions and engineering services.
The acquisition strengthens FRAMOS’ presence in the United States and adds embedded hardware design, manufacturing and lifecycle support capabilities to its existing expertise in industrial imaging and vision systems. The move is intended to help the company provide more integrated imaging solutions to customers developing embedded vision and AI-enabled products.
EMAC, headquartered in Carbondale, Colorado, has more than four decades of experience in embedded computing, custom electronics design and domestic manufacturing. By combining EMAC’s engineering and production capabilities with FRAMOS’ image sensor, camera and vision technology expertise, the companies aim to support customers from component selection through to complete embedded vision system development.
According to FRAMOS, the acquisition aligns with its strategy of expanding its engineering capabilities while strengthening support for customers across North America. The company also expects the combination to accelerate product development and simplify deployment for OEMs building next-generation imaging solutions.
For existing EMAC customers, day-to-day operations and support will continue while benefiting from access to FRAMOS’ broader portfolio of imaging technologies and global engineering resources.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend across the machine vision industry, with companies investing in vertically integrated capabilities that combine imaging hardware, embedded computing and software expertise. As AI-powered vision systems become more complex, many suppliers are seeking to provide customers with more complete development platforms rather than individual components.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
