Automate 2024 is now in the books! It was another highly successful event, welcoming 800+ exhibitors and more than 35,000 visitors across four exciting days.
While at Automate, we caught up with FRAMOS to find out about their vast array of products on display. Joseph DeCola, Senior Account Manager at FRAMOS, guided us through some of their most exciting solutions.
FRAMOS presented a series of products in the imaging realm, from compact sensors with between 2-5 megapixels for robots, drones and medical devices, to large format sensors. The larger sensors boast up to 150 megapixels, along with rolling shutters and global shutter sensors which are used for inspection.
The sensors have a range of uses, with some utilised to find defects in manufacturing, while others can be used in asteroid detection.
Joseph explained the process:
“We take a sensor, typically a Sony sensor, and then design this stable module, which is optimised and focused in a line to an optic. We have the capability for custom optics as well as off-the-shelf optics.
They match perfectly, allowing customers to place it in their system without having to worry about measurements, field of view, calibration or optical alignment.
FRAMOS also have the Intel RealSense depth module, but this was built into a more ruggedised camera with an aluminium body. It is IP67-rated, making it suitable for robots working in more physical environments, such as outside or in a manufacturing plant. This means users won’t need to worry about damages from the USB cables falling off, something hitting it, or dust affecting it.
