How Zebra Technologies’ solutions provide industry-leading defect detection and 3D point clouds

Zebra Ivar Keulers VISION 2024

At VISION 2024, we visited the Zebra Technologies booth. There, we caught up with Ivar Keulers, Machine Vision Solutions Engineering Manager at Zebra.

Ivar walked us through their deep learning solutions, starting with their deep learning anomaly detection, which allows users to quickly perform quality inspection tasks and detect defects in their products. The system is trained through the inputting of good and bad images, allowing the system to determine which defects, if any, are present.

Zebra also presented their range of new 3D cameras, the 3S80 and 3S40 cameras. These cameras offer the industry’s highest 3D image resolution when capturing dynamic scenes, taking images while the parts are in motion by creating a point cloud with their Aurora Design Assistant software.

Ivar then showed us their new AltiZ 4200, which Zebra released while at VISION. The AltiZ 4200 is a high-resolution laser which can create 3D point clouds, allowing users to get a better view from all angles.

Zebra’s OCR tools were also on display, following their introduction last year. The PC-based solution, which performs OCR reading on a range of materials, has been trained in over 20,000 fonts to allow it to read text straight out of the box.
