Mikrotron has unveiled the latest addition to its CoaXPress-12 Series, the EoSens 21CCX12-FM colour camera.

Drawing on the performance of a 21-Megapixel CMOS global shutter colour sensor from Gpixel, the camera merges 5120 x 4096-pixel resolution with the ultra-fast CoaXPress 2.0 (CXP-12) interface to deliver a world-leading combination of superior imaging, high sensitivity, and blazing speeds up to 230 frames-per-second (fps) at full resolution.

The new camera’s four-lane CXP-12 interface is scalable using 1, 2 or 4 connections for up to 50 Gbit/sec transmission speed, plus is compatible with the legacy CXP 1.0 standard. At lower resolutions, the camera delivers speeds exceeding 5500 fps.

Like all Mikrotron cameras, the EoSens 21CCX12-FM features a ruggedized IP30 metal enclosure to withstand harsh industrial environments, along with the flexibility of precise triggering, image flip, defect pixel correction, binning, and simplified set-up for hassle-free integration into new or existing vision systems. Utilizing binning increases its signal-to-noise ratio, lowering the required laser power and helping to achieve higher resolutions even when the image is strongly amplified.

In addition to general machine vision applications, the EoSens 21CCX12-FM is an ideal solution for 3D laser profiling and automated optical inspection. In high-speed laser triangulation, the camera’s large sensor provides greater scan coverage for more precise 3D measurements. In Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), the camera brings all the accuracy of its 21-megapixel resolution and 4.5 µm pixel size to the challenges of detecting faults in complex PCBs and LED displays.

CXP-12 enables the highest frame rates without latency or jitter. This speed, combined with high sensitivity for capturing images with very low noise, results in greater throughput and overall productivity. Environments with significant variations of brightness benefit from the camera’s wide dynamic range (68.8 dB max) and shading correction feature.
