VISION Messe Stuttgart 2021 returns from its pandemic-enforced hiatus on the 2nd of October 2021. With more than 250 exhibitors in attendance, it’s set to be big. Make sure you get the most out of your visit by reading our guide.
Before deciding to go, a number of COVID-19 safety measures will be in place. These include the need to show one of three options before entering the show: proof of vaccination, recovery from or a negative test for coronavirus. Wearing a mask will be mandatory.
Organisers say the focal point of this year’s programme will be Industrial VISION Days – one of the world’s largest forums for machine vision where innovations and new products from the machine vision industry are presented and current trends are discussed. The schedule of talks can be found here, whilst the thematic structure of the Industrial VISION Days is as follows:

Messe Stuttgart is transmitting the Industrial VISION Days live and on-demand for the first time. The related trade fairs Motek and parts2clean are also new, with participants in both guest events given the opportunity to visit VISION free of charge.
The VISION Award, an accolade given to the company with the best product as voted for by a panel of judges will be presented for the first time on stage (10.20 am, Wednesday 6th). The Austrian Institute of Technology, HD Vision Systems, Prophesee and Zeiss have been shortlisted for the Award. The four entries cover event-based vision, inline metrology and two 3D imaging products, with only one able to pick up the award and its €3,000 prize.
VISION Messe Stuttgart 2021 will also feature “theme parks”. These are areas of the tradeshow dedicated to certain themes, including:
- VISION Start-up World (Hall 8 Stand E60) – Where start-ups from areas such as image processing and computer vision will present their innovations to the industry.
- Integration Area (Entrance area Paul Horn Hall/Hall 10) – An area dedicated to system integrators and solution providers.
- IPC 4 VISION (Entrance area Hall 8) – A shared stand from inVISION and SPS-Magazin giving the topic of industrial PCs a larger platform.
- VDMA Technology Days (Hall 8 Stand E53) – Under the theme “Research meets Industry”, VDMA Machine Vision and Messe Stuttgart have organised a joint stand for universities, research institutes and start-ups to present themselves.
- BMWi Gemeinschaftsstand (Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) Stand E40) – Where newcomers to the machine vision industry will present themselves at the joint stand of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
Tuesday will start with the official opening of the tradeshow at 10.00 am at the Alfred Kärcher Hall (Hall 8, Stand C70). This is followed by events such as the VISION Award ceremony the following day and rounded off on Thursday with Start-Up Pitches/Start-Up of the Day/VISION Start-Up 2021 Award at 09.10 at the same stand.
